    The Hudson Agency Chicago Style by Ellie Oberth is a fun, straight forward ride from beginning to end First we meet Danby, a not ready to retire investigator with a bum knee that everyone calls Gramps He gets saddled with a newbie, Elmo, and they start the search into a series of near fatal accidents of a Chicago businessman We meet a host of colorful characters that Oberth described with quick brushstrokes that keep the story moving forward until it s unusual end It s told in presen The Hudson Agency Chicago Style by Ellie Oberth is a fun, straight forward ride from beginning to end First we meet Danby, a not ready to retire investigator with a bum knee that everyone calls Gramps He gets saddled with a newbie, Elmo, and they start the search into a series of near fatal accidents of a Chicago businessman We meet a host of colorful characters that Oberth described with quick brushstrokes that keep the story moving forward until it s unusual end It s told in present tense, which I thought would be awkward to read but after the first few sentences, it flowed beautifully Besides, by then I was sucked in by the old curmudgeon The Hudson Agency Chicago Style is a must read for Danby s first person narrative alone
