  1. Lorri Lorri says:

Mietek Weintraub has written a clear and concise book describing the events and horrors he witnessed and his resolve to believe in a G d that seemed to overlook him and his familyAs a teenager he was confined to the Lodz Ghetto where he witnessed the murder of Jewish individuals and witnessed deplorable conditions Eventually he and his mother were deported and he barely survived his imprisonment He saw the Ghetto ElderMordechai Chaim Rumkowski being deported also and he witnessed scenes that nobody should ever have witnessed Near the end before liberation he began to uestion whether he was a musselman a person who was so weak and starved that they were resigned to the fact they would die He somehow overcame that train of thought and did manage to survive To his dismay he discovered that his family had not survived His story is filled with horrific images and is told with starkness and frankness Nothing is sugar coated within the chapters that are two pages in length The reader is presented with vivid word paintings images told from the point of view of a teenager yet with the maturity of one beyond his years He struggled with religion struggled to try to understand how G d could desert him and his family during their time of greatest distress and need He wanted to believe there was a reason for the circumstances he found himself in The Arrival I Sought God in Hell is not a fast read due to the fact there is so much to digest It is a straightforward and intense story I want to thank Urim Publications for my complimentary copy
