Flowery at first then a sharp shift in part 2 as the war changes lives and forces people to see the world with all its flaws Interesting concept but as a result of separations I only came to know the heroine and her daily life The hero I didn’t know at all and I felt like he couldn’t get his priorities in order because he was always choking on his overblown sense of honor It also ended abruptly But I’ll probably still try another since it had a historical feel and I liked seeing of the daily life and challenges and not just witty banter and sex which is what’s always on the market these days

The book was very flowery at first However I think this was done on purpose it is flowery and prosy while the two leads are young and naive and as they grow older so does the writing styleI liked the heroine immensely and it was fun watching her 'grow up' in book years She really did get a backbone and I appreciate that The hero is slightly less likable but he grows on you The plot was good and it moved well The only thing that I didn't uite like was the ending I felt as if it needed an epilogue of some sorts because the ending was uite abruptSo half off for the overdone prose at the beginning and half off for the ending still it's a good four star book for a rainy afternoonEditYep took two stars off Why? I re read it and my re read was justmeh Just underwhelming slow and rather choppy at times Sure the heroine's still pretty likeable but I begin to notice and wonder at the funny disjointed writing

Not a very successful Fawcett Regency in that it tells its story in an awkward disjointed wayBought it at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe on Crosby St in NYC for 50¢ Think I'm going to sell it on to Book Off in the hope that someone else will like it better than I did
